CONTEMPLATING SENTIENCE

A growing collection of considerations in this line of enquiry…

Sensation is communication.

If plants are sentient, what ethics surround  experiments in  communication with them?

Our words on their paper – can we trust the authenticity of our words written on their paper? as expert morphologists, do plants intercept our outgoing messages through their transformation into paper ? has anything we’ve ever written been read as we have intended?

The history of humans’ understanding of plant relationships and their evolutionary morphology has lead humans to practice evolutionary control on plants (gardening or farming) and at the same time on humans (eugenics). Both have lead to the destruction of diversity and considering diversity’s role in survival, both could have a predicted effect on the destruction of humans – are plants aware of this potential trajectory?
